Lakeland Limited, Windermere
Having re-located their distribution operation to the new Kendal Distribution Centre, an opportunity existed to develop the former distribution centre and head office in Windermere.
Working as part of a design team in a negotiated management type contract, R G Parkins & Partners Ltd were commissioned to provide both planning supervisor and structural engineering services.
Detail
The design process was discussed with the HSE at length, to identify risk areas during construction and the steps which would need to be taken to mitigate them.
Construction was steel frame superstructure, on traditional foundations, with a central reinforced concrete column, and lift shaft providing stability.
Project cost approx £8M.
