CREA Building, Meadowside Shap Road

CREA Building, Meadowside, Shap Road
As structural engineers we were appointed by the main contractors Cox & Allen to provide the structural design for the Mellor Architect’s concept design, and see the building through to construction. Their design incorporated a curved end to the building, as shown in the photo.

The building, now occupied by CREA (Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency), was designed as a braced steel framed building using masterseries 3d software, with pad foundations and ground bearing slabs. The first floor was constructed using manufactured ‘I’ joists. The roof was constructed using traditional slate built off rafters spanning between steel purlins.
