PORTFOLIO > Hydrology & Flood Risk
CASE STUDY
Vicarage Beck, Hawkshead
As part of the re-development of a Brownfield site in Hawkshead, a Flood Risk Assessment, Hydraulic Calculations and Drawings were required to apply for consent for works affecting watercourses under the Land Drainage Act 1991 and Water Resources Act 1991. Successful negotiations with the Environment Agency led to a scheme being approved to replace a long section of culvert which has been known to cause flooding in Hawkshead and is in poor condition. An hydraulic model of the watercourse was constructed and a culvert designed that would provide a significant reduction in overall flood risk to Hawkshead.
