CASE STUDY
Booths, Carnforth
R G Parkins & Partners Ltd were commissioned by Booths Supermarkets to re-model and engineer the existing car park, widen the access road into the store, and improve the entry and exit between the car park and the A6.

The car park arrangement was re-modelled to improve the circulation and parking for shoppers visiting by car, and also to provide safe pedestrian routes into the store from Market Street and Scotland road. Parent and child and disabled parking spaces have been relocated closer to the store entrance and the lighting and surfacing has been replaced.
The access road widening incorporates a five metre high reinforced concrete retaining wall built within land bought from Norman Jackson Contractors. Prior to excavations for this wall commencing, the adjacent joiners shop was partly demolished and reduced in length by one bay.

The widened access road allows for a better entrance into the store together with two exit lanes dedicated for left and right turners.
All of the design work has been carried out by R G Parkins & Partners, and Jacksons Contractors of Carnforth have been the civil engineering contractors.
CDM Co-ordinator services have also been provided by R G Parkins & Partners.
