Working for a better structured world.

Seaforth Docks, Liverpool

The project involves preparation of a new wharf in the dock basin, to serve aggregate storage and handling plant for offloading.

The existing quay wall, a cofferdam constructed from steel sheet piles, is suffering from damage and corrosion, and the final quay level is too low for practical use. New surface loadings were also excessive for the existing structure.

R G Parkins & Partners Ltd were commissioned by Mersey Docks & Harbour Board to procure all site investigations, and prepare feasibility designs for the new works.

Following on, working along side Dew Pitchmastic Ltd in a design and construct venture, a design was prepared and implemented based upon a steel combi-wall solution. The main wall is anchored back using a traditional system of tie rods, fixed back via vertical bearing piles and a system of raking anchor piles down to bedrock.
