Peel Harbour

R G Parkins & Partners Ltd were commissioned to provide temporary and permanent works design for the above project under a Design & Construct Contract.
The scheme involved the design and construction of a new permanent tied combi-wall quay jetty.
In the temporary condition this was utilised as an access platform to allow construction of an 18.0m x 12.0m combi-wall cofferdam, which in the permanent condition provides support for a new footbridge and associated flap gate abutments.
Due to the presence of a locally high bedrock level, an innovative rock socket spigot arrangement was utilised to ensure that sufficient embedment of the combi-wall was maintained for overall stability.
This system provided an economic, environmentally friendly and low risk solution over traditional methods of installing embedded retention walls with a high rock level.
