50 years of R G Parkins
R G Parkins and Partners (as it was then known) was founded in Kendal in 1973 by Bob Parkins and Andrew Brodie.

How it started
They were Civil Engineers who had met in Kendal in 1965 while working for the firm appointed to design the M6, then spent two years designing roads and bridges in Nairobi.
The firm began in a small office on Captain French Lane, before moving into larger premises in Kendal town centre at 91 Stricklandgate. In 1983, they were joined by Peter Bathgate and opened a second office in Lancaster. The firm continued to grow its staff and client base and with the Kendal team moving to 157 Stricklandgate in 1986
Up to the present day
In 1990, long serving employees, Dave Heron and Alastair Bain, became Partners in the business with Keith Lockwood and Reg Burrow becoming Partners later in the 1990’s. Shortly afterwards, in 2000, R G Parkins and Partners became incorporated as a Limited Company. Bob Parkins retired in 2004.
The need for increased office space and a more modern working environment led to another premises move in December 2004, when the Kendal team relocated into their current purpose-built premises on Shap Road.
Following the company tradition, in 2017 long serving employees Adam Roberts and Joe Parkins bought R G Parkins. Adam and Joe continue to lead the business today, with their expert team of civil and structural engineers and support staff.
