Drainage Design and SuDS

Any development must consider an effective drainage strategy at the outset, supported by a flood risk assessment.  Our drainage design and SuDS advice covers all types and sizes of project whether replacing a domestic septic tank with a private treatment plant or incorporating SuDS techniques into a large new residential or industrial development.

Our designers work closely with our ground investigation team to understand the Hydrology and Hydrogeology of a development site so that these options can be considered at an early stage and utilised where appropriate.

Our hydrology experts consider the water impacts on a development site from the onset, and working with our ground investigation team, have the practical experience to develop an effective detailed drainage design for your scheme.

We provide drainage design advice for all types and sizes of project whether replacing a domestic septic tank with a private treatment plant or incorporating SuDS techniques into a large new residential or industrial site.

Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)

Sustainable Drainage Systems or SuDS are increasingly important to manage the effects of surface water and mitigate the risk of flooding.

Our skilled hydrology experts work closely with the Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFA) to design rigorous drainage systems which properly manage surface water in existing locations or in the planning of new developments and roads.   We are likely to use a range of SuDS techniques on a development site.

Well-designed SuDS will ensure surface water is treated and discharged in an acceptable quality and quantity to reduce the risk of flooding from development and bring other environmental benefits, such as reducing the impact of pollution and improving water quality.  SuDS can also create new wildlife habitats and areas of biodiversity, and create attractive, open spaces for local people to enjoy.

Private treatment plants

With the phasing out of septic tanks, developments in rural areas, such as barn conversions, require a treatment plant to manage their foul drainage.  Our experts can design an appropriate system for your needs which meets the required regulations, including advising on plant requirements, drainage fields and gaining the necessary environmental permits.
